My name is Stephen, and I went to the University of Massachusetts - Amherst to earn my bachelor's degree in civil engineering, graduating cum laude. As a college student, I tutored on campus, assisting other students with chemistry, physics, and math. I really enjoyed this experience, and I learned a lot about the different skills, backgrounds, learning styles, and personalities every student has. I developed the ability to adapt my teaching approach to match these aspects for each student that I worked with. I enjoy connecting with students and building rapport so that I can understand their needs and how they learn. When I work with students, I always want them to develop a fundamental understanding of the concepts and problem-solving skills so they can find answers on their own. It's very rewarding when students reach the point where they light up because they understand something they struggled with or are able to solve a problem they couldn't figure out before. It feels great to make that kind of difference in a person's life. I can tutor students in subjects like algebra, trigonometry, chemistry, physics, civil engineering, elementary school math, earth science, life sciences, English, essays, writing, reading, Spanish, biology, and others. In my spare time, I enjoy music, yoga, nutrition, and exercise.
